Officials said that the suspect, who is in his late 20s, was known to police when he entered the high school shortly before 10 a.m., causing the school to be put under lockdown.
The suspect fled the scene when police arrived. The pursuit ended when he crashed his vehicle near the intersection of Central and Emerald Street in Hingham. He was taken into custody and transported to South Shore Hospital with minor injuries.
He is expected to be arraigned in Hingham District Court at a later date.
